A gift card issuance is counted each time your application calls the /cards/issue endpoint and receives a successful 200 response with a new card object — regardless of the card's denomination, currency, or delivery method. Voided cards that never left a pending state are not counted. Test-mode issuances (using your test API key) never count toward your monthly limit. Duplicate retry calls that return the same card ID due to idempotency keys are also not counted twice.

Yes. You can upgrade at any time from your dashboard under Settings → Subscription. The upgrade takes effect immediately, and you'll be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the current billing cycle based on the difference in plan price. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle — your current limits stay active until then. You won't lose any issued cards or API keys when switching plans.

Every new account includes a 14-day full-access trial of the Growth plan at no charge — no credit card required to start. During the trial you can issue up to 500 real gift cards in live mode, make unlimited test-mode API calls, and access all webhook and reporting features. At the end of 14 days you'll be prompted to enter billing details to continue. If you don't upgrade, your account automatically moves to the Sandbox (free) tier, which is test-mode only.

Each plan includes a set number of active live-mode API keys: Sandbox includes 1 test key, Growth includes 3 live keys, and Scale includes 20 live keys. Additional live-mode keys can be added on Growth for $10/key/month and on Scale for $6/key/month. Test-mode keys are always unlimited on every plan. Billing for extra keys is prorated if added mid-cycle. You can revoke and regenerate keys at any time from the #/docs dashboard without affecting your key count or billing.

If you reach your plan's monthly issuance cap, the API will return a 429 status with the error code CARD_LIMIT_EXCEEDED. Your existing issued cards remain fully valid and unaffected. You have two options: upgrade to a higher plan (takes effect immediately), or purchase a one-time top-up block — available in increments of 500 cards at $0.09 per card on Growth and $0.06 per card on Scale. We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first paid subscription charge if you haven't issued more than 50 live-mode gift cards during that period. To request a refund, email [email protected] within 7 days of the charge with your account email and order ID. Refunds are returned to the original payment method within 5–10 business days. One-time top-up purchases, additional API key fees, and charges after the first billing cycle are non-refundable. We do not charge cancellation fees.
